Hey. My name is iris or iris-lgtm.
You might know me from a few different modding spaces, but i've finally decided to write a proper blog about.. well, my actual thoughts and myself in general. Selfish, i know, but as i continue to grow as a developer (and person) an outlet like this is needed to show off my thoughts to the world.
Well, who am I?
I'm indian by origin, which may come as quite of a shock to any well-meaning (yet racist) people who are reading this and who had originally liked me. My advice to them is to fuck off.
Regardless, i've been a developer for around.. 3 years? starting 2024, i've done minecraft modpacks, mods, and slowly expanded to general game development and more legacy modding, such as 1.7.10. I originally developed only for 1.12.2, but over time, i've seen how that community has.. fallen apart, with people with questionable moral and political standings residing there.
Besides being a developer, i'd also consider myself a general artist, designing stuff, making music and drawings too. I enjoyed writing in the past, but who has time for that nowadays, really?
I have a.. moderate interest in literature and science (not all encompassing like some of my peers) and enjoy politics to a degree. I like game design and creating games the most though.
I'm not sure why I enjoy it. It feels satisfying to see someone enjoying what i've made, and games are one of the more easily-accessible mediums for this feeling. I mean, if i had time to bake cookies for all my friends, i would do that too, it's basically the same feeling.
Being queer here in this country is not a very good experience, so i usually just interact socially online. I have a couple good friends, like siepert, freddy, and tam but i generally prefer to interact with people online over offline.
That doesn't mean that i don't want to meet my friends IRL; There is something intrinsic about meeting someone like that, that text on a screen, no matter how touching, can quench; However, beggars cannot be choosers, so i am stuck here.
It's not all bad though, some people believe i am talented, even. It's an odd feeling but it is probably not a bad one.
Anyways, thank you for reading the first part of my blog, i'll probably post another tomorrow. It's my first time writing one of these so i hope it was somewhat readable?
